You are making an urban neighborhood on the shore of a giant lake!

Population: 110 people live in your neighborhood!  Write your population on your graphic organizer.  Because you are an urban community, you can build apartment buildings.  Each apartment building is worth 10 people.


What jobs do you want the people in your neighborhood to have?

Shipping
(moving goods from place to place)
What is it?
People use trucks, trains, and airplanes to move goods from factories to stores.  Without shipping, you would be able to buy things that were made in other places.  It is very important!

What do you need?
If you want your community to be an important shipping center, you will need trains, boats, and an airport.


Making Cars (automotive)


What is it?
To make cars takes you need to hire a lot of people, which is good for your community.  Communities that make cars ship them all around the world.

What do you need?
If you want your community to build cars, you will need a lot of factories.
Banking
(giving people money so they can start businesses and buy homes)

What is it?
Banking is very important to a community because banks keep money safe.  Banks also let people borrow money so they can start businesses and buy homes.

What do you need?
If you choose Banking, your community will need a lot of bank buildings.
